Blogging From A to Z Challenge – Reflection

I survived another year of the Blogging From A to Z April Challenge (scroll to the bottom for a complete list)! This year, I dove deep into the world of diversity in children’s and young adult literature. I was surprised to see as much diversity as I did, but we’ve still got a long way to go. Especially in terms of diversity across genres and intersectionality among diverse groups.

I really like working on different challenges as it changes up how I post every day and allows me to focus on a topic that interests me. This year, the challenge changed the way they post, creating a master list that bloggers could refer to with links to each person’s blog. It definitely made life a lot easier when I didn’t have to remember to post a link to my blog post every day, but I got a lot less traffic because of it. And only a handful of comments, when I usually see a lot more during the month.

A – Adoption, Anxiety, and Asian Protagonists
B – Biracial Characters and Black Characters
C – Caribbean Characters and Civil Rights
D – Depression and Dyslexia
E – Ethnic Diversity
F – Foster Care
G – Gay & Lesbian Characters in Middle Grade and YA
H – Homelessness
I – Incarceration, Indian Characters, and Indigenous Voices
J – Jewish Voices
K – Korean Characters
L – Latinx Characters in Middle Grade and YA
M – Middle East and Muslim Voices
N – New Books in 2019
O – OCD
P – Poverty and PTSD

R – Refugee Experience
S – Social Justice
T – Teachers and Trans Characters
U – Universal Stories
V – Vegetarian & Vegan Characters

Thanks to the whole team of the A to Z Challenge! I had a great time and I’ll see you next year!
