12 Titles for Healthy Eating

Every Sunday morning I walk the pup and then come home and sit down to plan my meals for the week and get my grocery list together. I find that we’re much better about eating healthy when we put a little thought into it. With that in mind today I want to share 12 Titles for Healthy eating for the whole family.

I’m not a huge fan of trying to weave my way around the grocery store when everyone and their mother is out shopping, but it works for us to have a week’s worth of meals planned and ready if I can go Sunday morning.

The grocery store is also an awesome place for kids to practice literacy skills – learning new vocabulary, following a list, checking prices – it’s all in one great place. Plus, as so many families are even more active in teaching children this fall – the kitchen is a great place for reading, math health, and science skills to all come together. When kids are involved in preparing a meal they’re not only learning valuable life lessons, they can take pride in helping the family and maybe even trying new foods.

We helped in the kitchen a lot growing up and all four of my siblings can cook well. Some of us enjoy it more than others, but we all can cook. And when we all get together, you’ll find all six of us (including my mom and dad) in the kitchen swapping recipes, sharing new tips and tricks we learned, and spending time together.

So, that being said, I’ve pulled together just a few titles about sharing with kids where food comes from, what kind of healthy options are out there, and even a few books for older kids about cooking and learning about being more conscious of what you put into your body. Families can also check out choosemyplate.gov for more information on healthy eating. I know my partner and I are trying to embrace a more plant-based diet in recent years and I feel better when we’re filling our plates with not only healthy but really delicious meals too.
