#blogbookaday: There’s a Dragon In Your Book

There's a Dragon In Your BookSummary:

“First, there’s an egg in your book. Then the cutest baby dragon you’ve ever seen hatches from it. But don’t tickle its nose, and whatever you do, don’t let it sneeze! ACHOO! OH MY!

Tom Fletcher’s infectious read-aloud invites kids to use their powers of imagination–along with some stamping, blowing, and flapping–to save their book from an adorable little dragon’s flammable sneezes! Children will be delighted to participate in this satisfying tale, a sequel to There’s a Monster in Your Book.

The bestselling author of The Dinosaur That Pooped series has once again paired up with illustrator Greg Abbott to create another creature that readers will fall in love with–and want to play with–again and again! Tom Fletcher has a huge social-media presence with over a million followers on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. His videos “Buzz and the Dandelions” and “My Wedding Speech” went viral and have been viewed tens of millions of times all over the world.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

A dragon hatches in your book and soon mayhem erupts as the little dragon sneezes, gets hungry, and heads home after her adventure. Be careful what you do because with each turn of the page something crazy happens!

Personal Reaction:

This is sure-fire win for little ones who love to interact with stories (plus it’s a sequel!). I really enjoy books that have the reader do something to keep the book moving, flapping pages, blowing, tickling the dragon’s nose, hive fives, etc. I really think this format sets up kids to believe that books are fun, which is exactly what you want to teach little ones. The dragon in this story is absolutely adorable and kids will have so much fun putting out fires, playing with water balloons, and  sharing a little ice cream after all that hard work!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
