What’s New? Literacious Updates and Changes

I started this blog eight years ago with, I think, my first post at the very tail-end of 2010. Since then I’ve gained (many) more followers, found my voice and better figured out where I see this blog going in the future. I hope by now, you’ll see it’s been given a facelift! It was in dire need of an update and I have to give a HUGE shoutout to my partner for helping migrate over 2,000 posts and designing my absolutely adorable new logo!

You also might have noticed that I’ve updated the categories my posts can be found, which I hope will be easier for you, as the reader, to find the content that most interests you. When I started this blog, I was working as a children’s librarian sharing storytime plans, program ideas and very much focused in the library world. Now, I’m hoping to expand my reader base to more teachers and families with content that is not so library-focused and more sharing positive reading experiences with kids in whatever capacity that works for you.

The old category get BOOKS will now be broken down a little bit more into Reviews, and Lists. Reviews will be just that – book reviews of things I’ve read, everything from picture books to young adult literature. Lists will be curated booklists centered around a specific theme. (I’m working on getting together a list that you can browse for topics that interest you.)

The old category get IDEAS will now be called Activities. Activities will include storytime plans (that can easily be adapted for preschools or home!) and will also include a book paired with extension activities and discussion questions to reach beyond the book – most likely these will often be picture books, but who knows, it may include other age levels as well.

The old category get EDUCATED will now be called Lifestyle, you didn’t think I could give up all library talk, did you? Here’s where I’ll post about what’s happening in my library with posts like Director’s Thoughts and what’s happening in the kid lit world in general. Plus, maybe you’ll see some posts about life outside of the book world! (gasp!)

Welcome to the new site, I hope you love it!
