#blogbookaday: Cat Wishes

Cat Wishes.jpgSummary:  “In this playfully subversive fairytale, perfect for fans of Jon Klassen, the ever-skeptical Cat learns that wishes can come true—just not always in the ways we expect. At turns sly and sweet, this clever story about friendship will leave no doubt that true magic lies in our connections with others, not just the wishes we make.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A cat is skeptical that wishes really come true, but it seems each time the cat makes a wish, something works out just right, even finding a little girl to be friends with.

Personal Reaction: I loved the unexpected ending to this story about a cat who questions whether wishes truly come true. I think the illustrations in this book fit perfectly with the text as they are ethereal with a soft palette in watercolors that fits perfectly for a wish-granting world. This is a perfectly quiet story – bedtime ready for a little one that likes a little magic and loves cats!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
