Storytime Theme: Trees Through the Seasons

While I’ve done a number of lesson plans for storytime featuring different themes for a specific season and I just created a general seasons storytime a couple of months ago, I thought this was such a fun idea that I had to share it. All four seasons from the perspective of a tree! Living in Pennsylvania, we have very clear seasons and while the weather likes to surprise us once in a while, it’s usually fairly simple to figure out what season we’re in. I’m not sure that this would be as easy to do in a place like Southern California where you don’t see snow or the beautiful displays of fall leaves we get in the Northeast.

I live an all seasons storytime because you can add it to your schedule whenever you need to fill it in. It’s not seasonal specific which makes it adaptable. Plus, with a theme like this, you can make it as scientific as you want – adding some basic STEM concepts to the lesson plan, or maybe even a nature walk, or location change to a local park to observe the season you’re currently experiencing. Think outside the box for a one of a kind seasonal storytime!
