2026 Blogging A to Z Challenge: Kindness
We’re moving through the alphabet for the 2026 Blogging A to Z Challenge and today’s letter is “K” for Kindness. A trait that many people seem to have foregone in 2026! And what’s more, it doesn’t take much to be kind to others. Holding the door, giving someone a compliment, writing a thoughtful little note – it doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, but it does have to be genuine.
Kindness is an attribute that I believe is valuable and should be taught at a young age. And I know, we don’t want kids growing up being taken advantage of for being nice. There’s an important understanding kids must learn about standing up for themselves, while also being kind to others. Kindness is lacking in today’s society and should be taught to little ones, otherwise we’re heading to school not understanding the importance of sharing, friendship, and helping others.

How Kind! By Mary Murphy
Hen gives Pig an unexpected present. “How kind!” says Pig. Pig is so touched, in fact, that he decides to do something kind too. So Pig gives Rabbit a gift. “How kind!” says Rabbit, who does something kind for Cow, who is kind to Cat, who wants to be kind in turn. Where will all of this kindness lead?
With electric-bright colors enhancing the simplest of words and pictures, Mary Murphy shows the youngest of children that what goes around comes around – especially when it starts with a generous heart.
If Animals Tried to Be Kind by Ann Whitford Paul, illustrated by David Walker
What if animals did what YOU do?
Porcupine would knit Giraffe a long scarf. Squirrel would help Dog diggity-dig for a bone. And Bear would surprise Snake with a honey cake. Across the animal kingdom, every creature would be kind in their own special way.
Featuring playful rhymes and adorable art, little ones can see how creatures, great and small, show kindness. Families will giggle along as they imagine the critters that inhabit places near and far.

2026 is my eleventh year participating in the Blogging A to Z Challenge! This year, my theme is Board Books for Babies with a focus on providing book suggestions that parents and caregivers can share with, of course, babies, but also toddlers and preschoolers! Each letter of the alphabet will focus on a different subject and will provide nine titles for each subject. While there are dozens of classic board books out there, this list includes titles published in the past 5-6 years, so you’ll get to learn about new titles, authors, and publishers! Stop by daily to check out the new books and other posts that I’ll be sharing in April.
