2022 Blogging Goals

I’m not sure if I can even believe it, but I started blogging late in 2012. And I’ve been steadily blogging for the past nine years. With over 3,300 posts, I wanted to take a little bit of time at the end of this year to really think about where I want to go next year and look closely at my 2022 blogging goals.

I love blogging, but it also takes up a lot of my personal time. And sadly, there’s not a lot of that right now. My word for next year is balance, but I know it will take a little longer of working a little more to get a little more balanced. I’ve got the budget to hire some additional staff, but I’ll need to time do the actual hiring and training.

But, I love blogging and I’m not ready to give it up completely. I’ve been doing some research that shows posting just 2-3 times a week might actually be better for me. I’ve been posting six days a week for quite a bit of time and honestly, I’m starting to get a little overwhelmed. I feel like I’ve made a booklist for just about every made-up holiday there is out there. And, it’s a lot of fun, but I want to be able to devote a little more of my time to more in-depth posts. I want to be able to take some time and clean up a lot of my old posts, especially storytime posts and images. These have really great content but don’t look so great right now.

New Content

So, for 2022, my goal is to post new content on Tuesdays for Top Ten Tuesday. Jana, over at That Artsy Reader Girl spends a lot of time creating really amazing topics. I love creating these lists because it really makes me think and brings together books you might typically not see sharing the same page.

I’m also going to post on Thursdays, most likely a new book list on a shared theme. These will range from board books to YA titles depending on the theme. First up for January are debut books by newly published authors! I love getting the news out about new books! It’s so fun!

And finally, I’ll be posting on Saturdays with fun new storytime themes. These are great for children’s librarians, obviously. But, they’ll also work really well for preschool teachers, homeschool families, and other families who are looking for some great books and other activities to share with their little ones.

My Hope for 2022

My hope for 2022 is to have more time. More time to spend writing posts, more time to spend editing posts, and more time to spend refreshing posts. Not to mention, more time to spend working on other social media posts – Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, I’m looking at you!

Plus, with my posts mapped out for the first quarter already, I’m hoping that I can focus more of my time on content creation, rather than time spent trying to brainstorm ideas. I’m excited for my 2022 blogging goals and the plans I’ve made. I’m hoping that this new schedule works and really allows me the time I’m looking for to work on balance.

If you’ve got any great ideas for content creators, I’d love to hear it! I kind of jumped into blogging knowing absolutely nothing! (And still kind of feel like a beginner in all of this even nine years later).
