2022 Word of the Year

So, I tried this last year with the word – “self-care” and I’ll be honest, it did not go well. Work kind of took over a lot of my life. We were so short-staffed, that I ended up working a lot of extra hours in the evenings and on weekends to make sure we had coverage. I didn’t get a chance to focus on my goals as much as I would have liked last year.

2022 Word of the Year

But, there is a small pinprick of light at the end of this very long tunnel. With my budget being approved, I was able to restructure my staff which should help me immensely. Instead of having 25 people report directly to me, I’m finally able to add back in some middle management positions. This now means, I only directly supervise a handful of staff members.

This year, I’m choosing a new word. My 2022 word of the year is – BALANCE. I’m looking for ways to bring a little more balance to my life. Definitely looking for ways to better manage my work-life balance.

And I’m already on the right track! I’ve joined the rock gym, and I’m really excited to learn more about bouldering and belay climbing. Rock climbing is definitely a challenge, but I’m really enjoying it! Plus, I’ve signed up for the 30 Day Yoga Challenge by Yoga with Adriene.

And tomorrow, I’ll share a little more of my plan to balance my time better in terms of blogging and social media. I’m looking for ways to create new content, but also spend some time refreshing old content. And maybe even spend a little more time on social media as well.

Do you have a word or mantra that you’re looking to use in 2022? I’d love to hear it!

Love it! I have been striving for balance lately as well, and I am getting better at it, but there is always room for improvement. My word for 2022 is FORWARD. No matter what happens, even if I stumble or completely fall on my butt, I am going to keep moving forward.

According to my mother and grandmother, hard work IS self care, so you did a great job this year! I like the word “Forward” as well. My favorite Tolkien quote is “Go back?” he thought. “No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!” So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.” Here’s to a better 2022!
