9 Middle Grade Books featuring Dragons

I’ve got dragons on the brain! Back in August we planned much of our programming and displays for the children’s department of the library and we decided to focus on the fantasy genre for September. We have an adorable fire-breathing dragon craft as a grab-and-go activity this month and we’re offering a dragon-themed storytime too!

Then, last night, my partner and I went to see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. I really enjoyed this Marvel movie! I feel like Marvel is following in the footsteps of Rick Riodan a little bit. Both are under the Disney umbrella which is a little funny too. Riordan’s imprint, Rick Riordan Presents showcases cultures and mythology from around the world written by authors of those cultures. Marvel has made millions with the well-known superheroes of the universe and after the success of Black Panther it’s no surprise they’re more willing to take a chance on more diverse superheroes.

With all that being said, I’m sharing 9 middle grade books featuring dragons today. I love the mythology surrounding dragons and how different it is depending on where the story comes from.
