Slice of Life Day 31: Maid of Honor Speech

My sister has been engaged for just over a year now and with her wedding coming up in mid-June, I’m happy to report that my Maid of Honor speech is finally coming together. I’m not huge on public speaking, although I’ve got a lot better about it when I realize that talking about something I love (i.e. books, reading, my job) is a lot easier than an assignment for school.

Unfortunately, the idea of having to write a speech worthy of my amazing sister is more than daunting. Sadly, for my readers, I can’t share too much, I don’t want my sister to see it! But, suffice to say, I’ve got a really great theme for the speech and actually started writing it down, finally. It still needs a lot of work, but it feels so great having something down on paper.

Shower Thoughts

I do a lot of thinking in the morning while I’m in the shower (#showerthoughts)! The theme came to me in the shower a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been mulling it around. And honestly, I think that by having a few days off from work, my creative side had time to relax and think a little more about it. I sat down at my computer this morning and typed up a couple of paragraphs!

Speech-Writing Team

Then, I immediately messaged my brother. His Best Man speech for our younger brother was phenomenal and had to ask his thoughts. Plus, my cousin’s been asking about my speech too. So in essence, I’ve now got a speech-writing team and I’m excited to keep working on it. Everyone keeps mentioning how there should be some funny parts, but I’m not usually a “funny” person, so that will definitely be a bit of a challenge.

Doesn’t it feel so good to make progress on a project that has been on your to-do list? Here’s hoping the rest comes together!

slice of life

This is my third year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be sharing brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. I hope you enjoy just a slice of my life as a librarian, book lover, and blogger!
