Slice of Life Day 30: New Month, New Workout Plan

I did really great working out with a 30-day yoga journey in January. Then I fell off the bandwagon and got really lazy. It was cold and dark outside and rather than getting up a bit early, I chose to sleep instead of working out. Now that the weather is beginning to warm up, I’ve gotten out to run a few times. It’s not pretty, but I am getting my feet on the ground. It’s funny because I hate running, but I love how strong I feel when I start racking up the miles. My body doesn’t always love it, so I’m going to take it slow. My goal is to always be comfortable running about five miles.

I’m going to get back to a daily yoga routine in April, I always feel really great when I’m doing some form of exercise. I started practicing using Yoga with Adrienne a few years ago and I really enjoy her style. What I love is that she creates a free yoga calendar every month that you can follow along with. And if you miss a day or two, it’s not a big deal, just jump back in the next day.

I also need to really spend some time stretching and maybe trying to get some weight-bearing exercises done too. I think if I can create a simple routine that I can stick to week-to-week, I’ll be able to get back into the groove. My sister is getting married in mid-June and I like having a timeline to try and work towards a little. She sent a fun cardio workout of wedding dances, so I might throw that into the mix as well!

What are your favorite forms of exercise?

This is my third year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be sharing brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. I hope you enjoy just a slice of my life as a librarian, book lover, and blogger!
