Four on Friday: March Comes In Like a…

Can you believe it’s almost March already?!?! Our weekend forecast is currently filled with rain, but after a month of snow, I can’t say that I mind. And it definitely fulfills the old adage, “March comes in like a lion.” So with that in mind, I decided to share just a couple of fun lion-themed picture books today.

Lions are a fairly popular topic for children’s books, so this is just a small sampling of what’s out there. You definitely don’t want to miss books like The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney or Renato and the Lion by Barbara DiLorenzo either. I did a Four on Friday theme just on picture books about lions and libraries! You can even check out Bookroo’s lion book list for more great titles.

Four on Friday: March Comes In Like a…

  • How to Be a Lion by Ed Vere
Ed Vere has such a unique, bold style which I love and is perfect for a story about lions!
  • A Hungry Lion, or A Dwindling Assortment of Animals by Lucy Ruth Cummins
This story is so silly and unexpected! The ending is a great big surprise!
  • I Thought I Saw a Lion! by Templar Books, illustrated by Lydia Nichols
My mom picked up this book for my niece and nephew and it’s so adorable with tabs that slide as you search for a lion in unexpected places!
  • Lion Lessons by Jon Agee
A lion is trying to teach a young boy the seven steps to becoming a lion, and if you know Jon Agee’s work, you know this one is going to be funny!
