Four on Friday: National Bagel Day

It’s National Bagel Day! I don’t know about you, but I love bagels! Fresh bagels from a bakery, prepackaged bagels from the grocery store, I don’t discriminate. Although, I must admit freshly baked bagels are pretty awesome! Personally, I love a blueberry bagel, lightly toasted with strawberry cream cheese. Perfection! Bagels have an interesting history and have been around since the 1600s. Bagels didn’t even arrive in America until the late 19th century.

Did you know that bagels are actually really easy to make with just a few ingredients? Here’s a quick and easy recipe to try out at home! The most interesting part of making your own bagels that you actually boil them before baking them in the oven. You might not be able to have little kids participate too much in making bagels but give them some dough to experiment with as you make bagels that look a little more bagel-like.
