Adulting So Hard

There are some things I never thought I’d get excited about. Things like a freshly mowed lawn, getting a new roof installed, and buying kitchen appliances. But, they do! Which I think means that I’m adulting so hard in my thirties!

I don’t necessarily love the act of mowing my lawn, but I do love the way it looks when it’s done! We live on a corner lot, so it takes about an hour to mow the whole lawn. I try to think of it as a great workout pushing a lawnmower for an hour while walking back and forth. But when it’s done, it just makes the whole house look really great!

We’re getting a new roof installed tomorrow (fingers crossed that the weather holds up). This is totally not something I would ever be excited for, but I am. Our roof right now is starting to lose shingles during bad storms and has already been repaired a few years after we moved in. I’m really looking forward to having nice, clean shingles put down and to get new gutters which I sorely need right now!

New Kitchen Appliances

And finally, we ordered new appliances over Memorial Day and finally got three out of four delivered this week. I’m the proud owner of a new microwave, dishwasher, and range! Our refrigerator will be arriving in a few weeks. We previously had an electric range, but we got a gas range installed. I’m a little nervous about making sure all the connections are tight, but it’s so amazing to cook with! Because I like to cook so much, I wanted a range that worked for me. It has 5 burners and 3 oven racks which makes me want to do all the cooking right now! Even when it’s 95+ degrees outside.

Last night, just to try it out, I made bacon. Probably the messiest thing you can cook on a stovetop (it was great)! And I made the Vanilla Dutch Baby, which is so very tasty, this time with strawberries!

What kinds of things excite you as an adult that you never thought would? Things make you feel like you’re adulting so hard?

These are impressive adulting achievements! The range is gorgeous. We’ve had gas for years and love it. AND the range top continued to work during PGE power shutoffs last year, which was huge. Probably my most recent “adulting” thing was creating an emergency kit a couple of years ago. Congratulations on your projects!

Thanks, Jen! Our range is the same size as our old one, but it looks so amazing! Plus, with four power outages in the past two months, I’m kind of excited about the opportunity to cook when the power’s out. Hope your family is safe!
