Slice of Life Day 28: Clean House or Weekend Plans

A number of people I’ve spoken with or have seen on social media are doing spring cleaning projects during the coronavirus. Me? I feel like I’m working overtime to keep everything up and running. And that’s even though the library isn’t even open right now! Which means, now that’s it’s officially the weekend, I’ve got to get my butt in gear and get to some of these household chores that I’ve been ignoring for a little bit.

And it’s the perfect day to work on housework because it’s supposed to be dreary and rainy all day. This means we can’t really go outside to enjoy the weather (that was yesterday)! And being under a stay at home order means no hanging out with friends or going out too much either.

I actually do like taking a little time on the weekend to straighten the house – get all the mail and paperwork that’s piled up over the organized and sorted. I like wiping down the bathrooms and kitchen to make them sparkle and just feel clean. And our house always needs to be vacuumed. There’s only two of us and the dog, but it’s enough traffic to need a good cleaning at least once during the week. And I mean vacuuming and mopping (we have all wooden floors with area rugs). That way when Monday rolls around again, I feel like we can start the week ready to go. And now that we’re both working from home, I want to keep the office looking nice for when we have video conferences!

And if I’m lucky, I’ll have some time for a nap and time to read too! What are your weekend plans when you can’t really leave your house?

This is my second year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be posting brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. A slice of my life as a librarian and blogger that I hope you enjoy!
