Review:

My Grandma and Me by Mina Javaherbin and Lindsey Yankey is the perfect story to share with grandparents. Especially for Grandparents Day on Sunday, September 8! A story of the special bond between a grandchild and her grandmother. I love the universality of this story. That no matter where you live, what your beliefs are, and what you do together, it’s a relationship filled with love.

What makes this story so special is the little glimpses the girl gives of her grandmother throughout the day. How each little moment is so special because they share it together. The little girl sees what makes her grandmother so special, so kind, and so loving not only to her but to the people in her community.

The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. Filled with a soft muted palette that comes alive with strategically placed bright colors that balance the page so well. The beautiful fabrics, rugs, and backgrounds are filled with intricate designs, patterns, and flowers. It makes you feel as though you’ve just stepped foot into the grandmother’s house in Iran.
