#blogbookaday: Seven Bad Cats

Summary:

Seven Bad Cats

“There once were seven very BAD cats…

Seven cats anywhere are probably too many. Seven BAD cats, all in one boat, is asking for trouble…

When a band of very bad cats stow away on a little girl’s boat she knows she’s in for a bumpy ride. But when they take their antics too far they just might ruin her whole trip!” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

A little girl is heading off on an adventure in her little sail boat when seven bad cats jump on board causing all sorts of trouble for the little girl. And just when she can’t handle a single more moment with them, she realizes they might not be as bad as she first thought.

Personal Reaction:

This is a cute little counting book with cats who cause all sorts of trouble. If you think of the phrase, “herding cats” then you’ve got the right idea. I really liked the ink and watercolor drawings allowing the colors to seep out past their lines in places made each illustration feel just a little wet like being on a boat. I think my favorite illustration of the story is when they all make it back to land and have a bonfire – singing and dancing into the night. This is the perfect counting story for a family with a bad cat of their own!

#blogbookaday (1)

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
