Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’d Want With Me While Stranded On a Deserted Island
Asking a book lover to choose what books you want with you on a deserted island is not an easy question! I pulled some of my favorites that I wouldn’t mind rereading again and again. If I was smart, I’d probably try to find some really long books that might…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 7/26/2021
What I Read It was an insanely busy week trying to finish up the bathroom renovation before some family came to visit. Unfortunately after trying three different drain pipes on our brand new vanity, we realized that the vanity top drain is not level causing it to leak. We were…

Four on Friday: Flamingoes
Flamingoes are my absolute favorite birds by far! And they have been since I was little. I love their long spindly legs and their gorgeous pink feathers. Did you know that flamingoes are pink because of the shrimp they eat? What a cool fact! Today I’m sharing four flamingo-themed books…

12 Books Set Down on the Farm
I may have mentioned on my blog before that there is a small farm a few doors down from my house. Let me be clear, I live in a very large suburb of Philadelphia, about 15-20 miles away from Center City. Many people picture much of Pennsylvania as farmland and…

What I Read I have been so busy between work and trying to finish up home projects! By the time I get into bed at the end of the day, I can only manage a couple of pages before I’m falling asleep with the bedside light still on and the…

RIP Floyd Cooper
Author and illustrator Floyd Cooper passed away yesterday and it’s another blow to the kid lit community who has lost so many talented creators this year. Cooper won the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award in 2009 for The Blacker the Berry, written by Joyce Carol Thomas. He won multiple Coretta Scott King…

Four on Friday: Octopuses
Octopuses (and yes, that is the correct way to pluralize octopus) are super fascinating creatures! They have eight tentacles that have nerve cells controlling movement which means they have eight mini-brains and a larger central brain too! They also have three hearts! Many can squeeze into the smallest of spaces…

Old MacDonald Has A Lot of Different Versions
As I was walking my dog around the neighborhood this morning, we walked through the little farm down the street. I live in very much a suburban area, but down the street from my house is a township-owned farm with animals, a freshwater spring, and a little ice cream shop.…
