12 Books Set Down on the Farm

I may have mentioned on my blog before that there is a small farm a few doors down from my house. Let me be clear, I live in a very large suburb of Philadelphia, about 15-20 miles away from Center City. Many people picture much of Pennsylvania as farmland and they’re not wrong. But, this little farm is right on one of the main roads in my town with a population of 30,000+ residents. The town is bustling for sure, but this farm is just a cute little place tucked in the middle of a residential area. It has cows, horses, a donkey, chickens, goats, and a variety of other animals that visit – geese, rabbits, squirrels, barn cats, etc.

What’s great is that this little farm has a natural spring where you can fill up containers for drinking water. It also has an ice cream stand, which is honestly way too close to my house. It takes me less than five minutes to walk down and grab dessert. Thankfully, one of our unofficial house rules is that we have to walk down, we can’t jump in the car to go down the block!

So, with that little farm as my inspiration, here are 12 books set down on the farm that would be perfect for a preschool lesson plan, a storytime, or just some great books to share with your family.
