Storytime Theme: Waiting
This storytime is all about learning a trait that even some adults need more practice with – patience and waiting! While this isn’t your typical storytime that’s full of fun characters or silly stories, but I think it’s an important concept that needs to be introduced to kids at a young age. Anymore, between steaming and social media, we don’t have to wait for much in our instant gratification world. So, if kids can learn the concept of slowing down and being patient, I think we are helping kids get set-up for success as they get older.
Check out these great books about how hard waiting can be and how fruitful waiting can be – whether it’s for a delicious meal, a surprise, or just noticing the smaller moments during the day. Add a fun song to practice patience and try something new in storytime with five finger breathing. Plus, I’ve got a few activities for kids as well to round out this great lesson plan. Enjoy!
