Storytime Theme: Libraries
Well, it isn’t hard to imagine why this might be one of my favorite lesson plans for storytime! I’ve loved libraries since I was little and have worked in libraries since I was 14 years old! This sweet storytime is sure to be loved by librarians and library kids alike and with a couple of books on this list by children’s literature and library advocates – you know you’re in the right place.
Some of these titles are inspiring, others are silly – all are about the library. And, I was even able to find some great songs about libraries too! But, rather than focus on libraries for the activities section, I wanted to focus on process art for kids instead. So often you see parents helping making their child’s craft because they want it to look like the example. Rather, process art is just about that – the process of creating, not focusing on the results. So, I’m sharing a couple of fun activities for process art and a great resources from NAEYC about the importance of process art! So, the next time you’re searching for a theme for storytime – be inspired by the place you’re standing in and make it all about the library!
