2024 Blogging A to Z Challenge: Easy Readers

There are countless easy readers for children looking to begin reading independently. In fact, it’s probably the most checked out collection in my library. And let me tell you, these books are well-loved. We just recently had to repurchase many new copies of old favorites so they had a chance to stand up to all those voracious readers!

Easy readers can be difficult to find, not so much in format, more so at the right level for your emerging reader. It’s important to ensure that your child doesn’t become too frustrated by reading something too high above their skill level. Rather, find books that both excite and challenge your reader at the same time. A note for parents, caregivers, and teachers, a level one by a publisher make look completely different from a level one by another. Stop by your local independent bookstore or public library and ask for some assistance in finding the appropriate titles!

2024 is my ninth year participating in the Blogging A to Z Challenge. This year, I chose as my theme: Adventurous Readers with a focus on providing book lists focused on all types of adventures for readers from birth to teens. Each letter of the alphabet will focus on different sub-genres or age groups and will provide twelve titles of books. This theme coincides well with the summer reading theme for many libraries which is “Adventure Begins at Your Library” and no matter what type of books the kids in your life like, there is sure to be something they’ll find interesting over the course of the month. Stop by daily to check out the new books and other posts that I’ll be sharing in April.
