Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Jobs I Would Do
The real theme for today’s Top Ten Tuesday is bookish jobs I would do for free and as much as I would love to do any of these jobs, I’m not sure I want to do any specific job for free! But, I am lucky enough to be already doing two of these jobs in my life! I’m already a librarian and a book blogger (and finally making a little bit of money too). These other jobs on this list seem like things I’d really enjoy doing, I mean, talking about books and being in the book world is pretty much an amazing place to be and I’m lucky that I get to do everything I’m already doing.
Reading Goals I Still Want to Accomplish Before the End of the Year
Librarian
Children’s librarian, turned library director of a public library I get to be surrounded by books all day, every day. And I’m lucky enough to have found my career very young in life and love what I do!
Book Blogger
I’ve been blogging for over ten years and although I never expected to blog for this long or have this many people reading my blog, I’m so excited that I get to share my love for kids’ books with an even greater audience!
Editor
I’ve always been intrigued by the publishing world and being an editor of children’s books sounds like it would be such a fun job – seeing new books go from drafts to published titles, what a great way to be a part of the book world.
Work Book Conventions/Conferences
I can’t imagine that this job is at all glamorous, but the people working at publishing houses who attend conventions and conferences are some of my favorite people to meet with and talk to. Their job is to share new and upcoming titles and I love getting their take on new books!
Book Marketing
Although social media marketing is not necessarily my forte, but I’d love to try my hand at marketing books! There are so many ways to share books love and between social media and traditional marketing – setting up author visits and so much more!
Book Cover Designer
Another great book job, I’d love to try is designing book covers, especially for kids’ books. Kids are very particular and book covers need to sell them on the book before they know anything else about the book. And there are some absolutely gorgeous book covers out there that are truly a work of art.
Book Subscription Box Creator
I thought this would be so fun, curating book subscription boxes! Reading and choosing titles, adding in some cute and creative gifts, and wrapping it up in a cool box or bag. I think this would be such a fun job!
Literary Tour Guide
I came across this idea when I was researching this post. Wouldn’t it be so cool to talk with other book lovers about special literary spots in cities around the world. A mixture of travel and books equals a perfect job!
Museum Curator
I seriously considered studying for a duel degree in library and museum studies when I was in graduate school, so this is something that has always fascinated me.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

If only being a book blogger paid more! I think it would make a great profession. š
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

I would love to be a literary tour guide!

I’ve heard of literary tour guides. I believe an organization in Bath, UK, focuses on Jane Austen, and one in PEI focuses on L. M. Montgomery (more so Anne of Green Gables).

If the college I attended (the only one I really wanted to go to) had had a library degree program at the time I went there, I totally would have gone for it! Working in libraries just seems ideal for a book lover. I’m sure it’s a lot more work than most people think, though. I’m glad you enjoy it and that you get paid to do something you love (even better).
Happy TTT!
