Storytime Theme: Hispanic Creators
Yesterday began Hispanic American Heritage Month which lasts from September 15 – October 15. Today I’m highlighting just a couple of Hispanic creators making beautiful picture books! This list includes both authors and illustrators and only nine titles – there are hundreds of picture books written by Hispanic creators and if you’re looking for even more great suggestions check out the Latinx Kidlit Book Database. And yes, although there is a difference between Hispanic and Latinx, it’s a wonderful place to discover some amazing creators.
I’m sure some people will have issues with the nine books I’ve chosen, but I was looking for some new titles for the most part and a wide variety of types of picture books. Believe me when I say this could have included a lot more titles and a lot more experiences, I know!
