2023 Blogging A to Z: Gamer

A lot of kids identify as gamers – whether they love playing video games, tabletop games, or card games. Games are super popular right now. And a quick time, check out your local library to see if they circulate video games and board games! It’s a great way to preview a new game before purchasing it. And some libraries also host game nights, D&D for teens, and more.

Today’s book list includes books about getting trapped in video games, Jumanji read alikes, and others for kids who love gaming! Many of these titles include fantastical or science fictional elements that kids will love as well. I didn’t include any Dungeons & Dragons titles specifically, but there are a bunch that exist for game play and more. The same with books about Minecraft and Overwatch – there are dozens of titles to help with game play, but also stories set in the game world. So whether your reader/gamer likes creating games, playing console games, or getting immersed in an RPG, they’re sure to find something they love on this list!

She figures out that bus thing, totes the clothes down to the laundry room and sets up her D&D campaigns right there on the slightly suspect folding table, makes her own snacks and dinner— the whole deal. But when Devin runs into trouble with his program and returns home, it’s pretty clear, even to Riley, that since he can’t navigate his own life, he’s going to live Riley’s for her. Now she has to help Devin go back to college and prove to her mom that she can take care of herself . . . all before the upcoming Winter-Con.

The 130-Story Treehouse by Andy Griffiths

2023 A to Z logo

This is my eighth year participating in the Blogging A to Z Challenge! And this year my theme is Books for Every Reader. My plan is to take and adjective for each letter of the alphabet and create a short book list for that “type” of reader. I’ll be focusing on middle grade novels, but you’ll also see some chapter books, YA titles, and nonfiction on the lists too. So whether you have a sporty kid or a theatre kid or just the type of kid that is a friend to everyone, you’ll find a list of books that I hope they love!
