Storytime Theme: Fish

With many libraries using the “Oceans of Possibilities” theme this year for summer reading, I wouldn’t be surprised to find that there will be a lot of fish-themed storytimes! There’s a wide variety of fish books out there for kids from the ocean, to pets, lakes to rivers, and a whole lot more. Today, I’ve pulled together a list that encompasses a little bit of everything. Don’t forget that nonfiction books can work really well in a storytime setting. And that you don’t necessarily have to read them cover to cover. Maybe you ask a fish question of the day and use the nonfiction book to find the answer!

This storytime theme can work in a library, preschool, childcare, or home setting, so don’t get overwhelmed by all the ideas. Take the parts that work for you and leave the rest! And remember, just keep swimming, just keep swimming…
