Storytime Theme: Kites

It’s been really blustery and windy the past few days which made me think of a perfect storytime theme – Kites! I’m always amazed when I see people flying kites at Valley Forge Park or at the beach, they make it look so easy. Today, I’ve also included two different kite patterns for you to try. One uses a single sheet of paper while the other one is made out of a paper plate. I’d love to hear from you if you try out either design.

What I also found really interesting while working on today’s post is that there are A LOT of picture books about kites with bear characters. I have no idea why!?!? Needless to say almost half of this list have bears and kites. Just a little food for thought today!

Whether you’re working on a lesson plan for the Letter K or you’re looking for some extension activities to keep the little ones busy at home – this is a fun and active storytime theme: kites!
