Mathical Book Prize

Did you know there is a book award for books that combine literature and math? The Mathical Book Prize “aims to inspire a love of mathematics in the everyday world in children of all ages”. Plus, their website is full of resources to use to extend reading beyond the book! These resources would work equally well for teachers, homeschool families, or anyone looking for additional fun activities.

As kids grow up, they’ll often overhear adults in their lives sharing their opinions about certain school subjects. “I hated math in school” or “I was never great at science.” Be careful what your kids hear from you because they may end up believing the same about themselves. Rather, I think it’s great to encourage kids at a young age to experience as much as they can in a positive light. Try new foods, learn about math and science concepts, travel, and meet new people.

What I love about the books selected for this award is that they’re not only about math, but they’re also really fun and interesting too! And with prizes given to five different age groups, you’ll find math-y books for everyone!
