9 Books for King Tut Day

It’s not the young King Tutankhamun’s birthday, rather November 4, 1922 was the day Howard Carter discovered King Tut’s tomb. I’ve always been fascinated with archeology and even fleetingly thought about being an archeologist. Funny enough, my brother actually is an archeologist!

There are dozens of books for kids about Ancient Egypt. Today, for this book list, I wanted to focus solely on King Tut. I think so many people find his story to be so interesting. He was somewhere between 8 and 9 years old when he became king. And he was only King for ten years before he passed away and was mummified. There is no clear decision on the cause of his death, but he had malaria disease and also had a compound fracture in his leg, and possibly other diseases.

There’s not a lot that is known about King Tut or his family. But kids can imagine what it might have been like to live in Ancient Egypt or a career choice in becoming an archeologist or Egyptologist.
