9 Books to Give as Retirement Gifts

Today’s a special day at my library! We are saying farewell to a long-time employee as she retires. She’s been with our library for 40 years. We had a wonderful party for her yesterday – doughnuts in the morning and a pizza party for lunch. With special treats from other staff members, we had a lovely time reminiscing about the good old days, and some staff that had retired stopped by as well!

We also gave our reference librarian a beautiful gift, that fit her style perfectly. A nice bottle of wine and personalized wine glass, some library card coasters, a candle, and some bath bombs. She just remodeled her bathroom, so we wanted to give her a relaxing start to her retirement. We’ve had a lot of people retire in the past few years and we like to make each person feel special. What I like the most is that we framed a quote and had everyone on staff sign the matte. And it’s the perfect sentimental touch for her.

9 Books to Give as Retirement Gifts

Although these titles didn’t make it into our gift for our reference librarian, these mostly picture books can be a great suggestion when it comes to picking out a great retirement gift! From sweet and sentimental, to silly and goofy these titles are a great choice for retirement gifts. If you’re giving one as gift from a group, have everyone right a note inside for the retiree to make it extra special!
