Blogging A to Z: Say YES!

As we head toward the end of the alphabet tomorrow, today’s post is probably one of the easiest and hardest tips for the entire month. It’s all about saying YES! When your little one brings a book to you with that light in their eyes, I beg of you, to say yes. No matter how much you have to do, the dishes, getting dinner ready, checking email, catching up on your favorite show, just say yes.

If your sweetheart brings over that book that you’ve memorized it because you’re read it a hundred times, say yes. Showing kids that you value time spent reading, teaches them that they should as well! And don’t read begrudgingly, kids will pick up on your lack of enthusiasm faster than you think.

If it’s been one of those days when you’re counting down the minutes until bedtime because everyone has been out of sorts all day long, try reading together for a quick reset. Does it always work? Nope. But, pull out one of those sing along books for a little upbeat, positive energy.

These days of snuggling with your little one are short and you’ll blink and your little one will be at school with homework and extracurriculars and reading together will get a little bit harder to squeeze into your busy schedule. So the next time you really, really want to say, “Not right now.” Say yes, it’s worth it.
