Top Ten Tuesday: Titles That Sound Like They Could Be Crayola Crayon Colors

I started writing up this post and searching for book titles with colors in the actual title before realizing that wasn’t the way I needed to look at this. Instead, I searched for interesting titles with just a single word or short phrase. I found that often the colors of the illustrations on the book cover pushed me toward certain color choices. I think I came up with some really interesting Crayola Crayon Colors!

Top Ten Tuesday: Titles That Sound Like They Could Be Crayola Crayon Colors

Titles That Sound Like They Could Be Crayola Crayon Colors

  1. The Canyon’s Edge by Dusti Bowling
I see this as being a really rich, deep burnt sienna color, like the literal edge of a canyon.
  2. Chirp by Kate Messner
To me, this would be the bright yellow of a macaw’s feathers.
  3. Clues to the Universe by Christina Li
This would be a bright blue that you find in pictures of the universe.
  4. The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm
What other color but a bright, deep reddish gold of goldfish scales.
  5. Give and Take by Elly Swartz
I see this as being a yellow-green color that you’re not really sure how to define.
  6. Maybe a Mermaid by Josephine Cameron
Probably my favorite color idea – this would be a beautiful teal color.
  7. Quintessence by Jess Redman
I can see this being a coral color similar to the color you can see on the cover.
  8. Savvy by Ingrid Law
I think this would be a pretty raspberry color – more pink than red.
  9. Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage
I think this lucky color would be a red – lucky in many cultures around the world.
  10. A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat
I can see this as being a deep purple – almost black.

What book titles make you think of of Crayola Crayon Colors? Or even better can you match your favorite color to a book title?
