Top Ten Tuesday: Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had

What I love about participating in Top Ten Tuesday is looking at books in a different way. And then combining books that would probably never be on the same list together. This week, I’m sharing ten picture books featuring characters whose job I wish I had.

I took this theme in a little bit of a different route, since I’m sharing picture books and most are about kids. But, I think it was a fun list to pull together and I’m so excited to share it with you!

You should also swing by my Instagram account to learn about great women in history all month long. I’ll be highlighting biographies about women who have left their mark in history – it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Top Ten Tuesday: Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had

Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had

  1. Flora and the Flamingo by Molly Idle
I’d love to be a ballerina and have such minute control over how my body moves in space. Unfortunately, I’m very clumsy and klutzy!
  2. The Gardener by Sarah Stewart, illustrated by David Small
A rooftop garden seems like such a cool concept! I’ve got a vegetable garden in my back yard and I’ve got to plant some new flowers in my front garden beds this spring.
  3. How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman
I love to travel and apple pie is probably one of my most favorite desserts of all time! This character definitely has it made, although I’m not too sure about traveling by umbrella!
  4. Julia’s House for Lost Creatures by Ben Hatke
For this book, I was thinking about owning a Bed & Breakfast and I thought this book was so cute! I’m not sure any house would be big enough for a dragon though!
  5. Nate the Great by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat, illustrated by Marc Simont
Ever since I was little, I thought it would be cool to be a detective. And who wouldn’t want a trusty sidekick?
  6. Sam and Dave Dig a Hole by Mac Barnett, illustrated by Jon Klassen
I also dreamed of becoming an archeologist as a kid. Fun fact – my brother is actually an archeologist! Although, I think he does a little better job than Sam and Dave.
  7. A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead, illustrated by Erin E. Stead
Wouldn’t it be cool to take care of animals? Especially such cool animals like at a zoo?
  8. Tinyville Town: I’m a Librarian by Brian Biggs
This is a cheat, because I am a librarian. But, I love what I do and had to include it on my list!
  9. Winter’s Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again by Juliana Hatkoff, Isabella Hatkoff, and Craig Hatkoff
Dolphins are one of my favorite animals and I love how this special little dolphin was able to adapt!
  10. Yasmin the Chef by Saadia Faruqi, illustrated by Hatem Aly
Cooking is something I enjoy doing and had to include it on my career list too!
