It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 12/28/2020

What I Read

I thought by not heading to my parents’ home for the holidays that I would have plenty of time to read…. not the case! I’m not sure where four days off of work went, but most of the time was not spent reading.

I ended up reading three titles, which is average for me. But I was really hoping to hit up a few more, but that’s where we’re at! I read Clues to the Universe by Christina Li which will be published January 12, 2021. It’s the story of a boy and girl who challenge each other while becoming friends.

I then read American as Paneer Pie by Supriya Kelkar which was as great as I had heard it would be! It’s definitely something that I’ll be sharing at work as we have many families from India in my community and I think kids would love seeing something so reflective of their culture. I also read Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park, a Little House on the Prairie alternative that I really enjoyed reading. As I’m not reading from a Native American perspective, others may bring up issues with the story, but Linda Sue Park spent the time to research her book and definitely creates a story worth discussing.

What I’m Planning to Read

I’ve got a few days off with New Year’s being on Friday. Maybe I’ll get a little more reading done before the end of the year. I just started A Thousand Questions by Saadia Faruqi last night which I’m already enjoying. And my goal is to try and read Tune It Out by Jamie Sumner, Stand Up, Yumi Chung! by Jessica Kim, and maybe What Lane? by Torrey Maldonado this week.

What are your reading plans to finish out 2020?
