It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 11/16/2020

What I Read

Just when I think I’ve hit my limit for 2020, something else happens and I have to readjust the way I’m thinking. I’m just tired. And this week, I definitely used my books as an escape that was desperately needed. This past week, I read almost four books, like I said I needed an escape.

The Truth According to Blue by Eve Yohalem is an eye-opening look at a child with Type 1 Diabetes and the constant testing, checking, worrying that accompanies the disease. I loved this story of a girl trying to find herself as she is growing up and making mistakes, while trying her best to remain healthy.

We Are Not From Here by Jenny Torres Sanchez was absolutely heartbreaking. A close-up look at three teens as they leave everything they’ve ever known to make their way to the United States as refugees escaping violence in their hometown. I can’t imagine having to make a decision like this one and feel as though running after trains, passing through multiple countries, and crossing a desert is the only choice you have.

After that, I read The Circus Rose by Betsy Cornwell which is a YA retelling of Snow White and Rose Red which I wasn’t familiar with. I loved the story with dual protagonists one in prose and one in verse. I thought the ending came too quickly, but loved the story overall!

Finally, I’m in the middle of The Mutant Mushroom Takeover by Summer Rachel Short. I love this STEM-inspired middle grade book. You’ll learn more in my review later this week!

What I’m Planning to Read

I’ve got just a few more books on my TBR shelf that I want to finish up! This week, I’m hoping to read Agnes at the End of the World by Kelly McWilliams, We Are Not Free by Traci Chee, and The Boys In the Back Row by
