Taking a Deep Breath

I feel like I can breathe just a little easier today. I try not to make this blog too political, but it’s been a long four years. It’s been four years of hate, divisiveness, anger, and frustration.

And I’m not saying that everything is magically going to get better. It’s not. Now, is the time that we all roll up our sleeves and get to work. And it’s not just the leadership in this country that has to work toward making America better. It’s people of privilege, people who have a platform to speak out, and to help make the changes we want to see. We need to build all people up, not tear them down to get ahead. That’s when no one wins.

First step? Making sure these books are available for kids to check out!

  • Joey: The Story of Joe Biden by Jill Biden, illustrated by Amy June Bates
  • Kamala Harris: Rooted In Justice by Nikki Grimes, illustrated by Laura Freeman
  • Kamala and Maya’s Big Idea by Meena Harris, illustrated by Ana Ramírez González

And can I just say, I’m so excited to see a woman of color in the White House! It’s been a long time coming and I’m excited that my niece gets to grow up in a time period that shows her that women can truly do anything.
