Storytime Plans

Global pandemic/quarantine aside, I haven’t really done storytime for four years now. Can you believe that? But, my Storytime Plans page gets some of the highest views on my blog, even now.

Although originally designed for children’s librarians, these storytime plans can easily be adapted for preschool and childcare centers, homeschool families, or for families that just really like to read together!

So, even though I don’t actually get the chance to perform storytime for kids most of the time, I’m actively adding new ideas and themes to the list. If you’re a regular follower on the blog, you may have noticed that I’m now posting Saturday Storytime themes each week – be sure to check out Bats, Squirrels, Spiders, and Fall Leaves from the past few weeks. I’m trying to add a bunch of titles to choose from for different age groups, plus including fiction and nonfiction titles when appropriate. Along with book suggestions, I’m also sharing some songs and rhymes (many from the awesome Jbrary team!) and some craft ideas. You can offer the crafts as part of a program or as a print-out for families to take home.

But, I’ve got dozens of storytime themes for you to peruse on my blog. I also include how I typically planned storytime (back in the day). In addition, some of my plans for sensory-friendly programs and yoga storytime as well (which I loved)! Plus, have you ever tried going theme-less? It’s actually really exciting too! It’s a completely different mindset but really frees you up to share some of your favorite stories that don’t really “match” with anything else.
