12 Kids Titles for National Voter Registration Day

Today is National Voter Registration Day in the United States. Volunteers are reaching out to people across the country to make sure everyone who is eligible to vote in the upcoming election is registered. So, I’m highlighting 12 Kids Titles for National Voter Registration Day.

These books are a perfect discussion starter for families to talk about the importance of exercising your right to vote. Likewise, it helps kids better understand the process. There’s also some fun, fiction books to read as well.

It’s a presidential election year, but it’s also the 100th anniversary of (white) women getting the right to vote. However, women of color were still barred from voting in many communities. For instance, communities enacted voting requirements making it impossible to vote.

Take time this fall to talk to the kids in your life about voting and elections. The United States’ two-party system is most definitely not a perfect system. But, in many places around the world, people are not given the opportunity at all. It’s important for kids to understand the process and why it’s important. Check out the books below to get started!
