Slice of Life Day 7: Spring Cleaning

I can’t say that I like cleaning the house. But, I do love the results! And when I get in the mood to clean, you better watch out because it’s happening! This week, my partner is away at a conference, so I’ve spent time every night cleaning up the house. I haven’t gone as far as cleaning the window screens and full spring cleaning, but the house was in desperate need of a sprucing up!

Typically, I get home from work, walk Aria (see post), and I make dinner and then work my blog followed by watching something on TV. This week, I got home from walking Aria, prepped dinner and start cooking and then pick a spot in the house to clean. It’s honestly amazing how much I get done in a short amount of time, especially if you’re cooking something that doesn’t require you to stand over the stove and watch it.

I was able to scrub the kitchen, clean both bathrooms, straighten up the house, vacuum, and mop all the floors. And that was just in the past few evenings. The house is looking great and I love coming home from work and feeling a little more accomplished each evening.

Today’s Goal

Today’s goal after publishing this post is to tackle our shared office. I love working at my desk in our office. But, when the room starts to feel cluttered, I can’t focus and usually end up blogging in the living room. This would be fine, but in the office, I’ve got a huge monitor and wireless mouse that make writing so much easier on a laptop. For whatever reason, paperwork starts piling up and before I know it there are piles and piles of it all over the place. My goal is to get all the paperwork organized and find a storage solution for it. I think that’s the main problem – I’m not sure where to put it all. So instead it gets put in piles on our desks.

How do you feel about spring cleaning? Is it something you do every year or when the mood strikes?

slice of life

This is my second year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be posting brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. A slice of my life as a librarian and blogger that I hope you enjoy!
