Halloween Parties and Cookies

With two parties to attend this evening a little baking was in order for the morning! After drooling over a number of recipes, with a range of complexity from pumpkin spice whoopie pies to apple cider cupcakes, I landed on Salted Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Crinkle cookies.

With the first party being a kid-friendly party (and all kids being under 7) I wanted to make something fairly simple that parents wouldn’t have to oversee (i.e. large cupcakes and whoopie pies). The second party is actually adults only and although I would have loved to make something a little more involved, there’s more to do today than spending the whole day in the kitchen.

Cooling cookies

I definitely cook more often than I bake, but when I get the chance, I don’t mind diving into baking! Although it took a little time (with letting the dough chill in the fridge), and my kitchen looks like winter wonderland with powdered sugar on pretty much every surface, these crinkle cookies smell delicious and I can’t wait for everyone to try them out! Especially with the little surprise of a Rolo hidden in the middle.

As for my costume? I found the easiest (and cheapest) costume for this year – a bat! Black clothes and adorable $5 bat wings from Target in that area where things are just a few dollars. Made of felt, with a little elastic for the armholes, these are easy to wear and if something happens to them, they were only 5 bucks!
