Summer of Nonfiction: Poetry

I bet most people don’t immediately think about poetry when you say nonfiction titles, but you’d be surprised by how much poetry is incorporated into nonfiction titles, especially for kids. Explore these great titles in my Summer of Nonfiction: Poetry list this week.

I think it’s really important to expose children to poetry from a young age as it’s so much more accessible than the 19th-century poets that you’re probably imagining right now. These books are about wild animals, outer space, Maritn Luther King Jr., and so much more. Explore these great titles and look for authors by these authors to find even more great nonfiction poetry books for kids!

I’m so excited to try something new this summer! I’m going to be highlighting nonfiction titles for a variety of age groups and in different styles. I plan on creating lists for different age groups – picture books, middle grade, and young adult. Plus, I’d like to take a look at format as well – books filled with facts, narrative non-fiction, and graphic novel format as well.
