It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 7/1/19

Last Week

After a busy week at work dealing with a broken AC unit during summer reading, I was ready for the weekend. And even with a busy weekend, I was still able to read three books, plus the one I finished on the way home from ALA. I read Fenway and Hattie In the Wild by Victoria J. Coe on the train and what was so perfect was that it’s one of my Middle Grade at Heart Summer Reading Bingo books and I got to meet Victoria at ALA!

I also finally finished The Mortification of Fovea Munson by Mary Winn Heider this week. It took me a few weeks because I picked it up right before ALA and then came back to it afterward. What I loved about it was how different it was and I think kids will really get a kick out of it. (It’s also a summer reading bingo book!)

I also read All the Impossible Things by Lindsay Lackey. This title was booktalked to me at ALA by a member of the marketing team for Macmillan and then I realized that I had already requested it through Netgalley and read it right away. I loved the magical realism aspects of the story that intertwined so perfectly with the very real story. Then I read The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen – one of my go-to YA authors that feels like coming home. It’s just so comfortable and adorable and fun to read!

Reading List for Week of 7/1/19

With so many books from the conference, I’m not sure what I’ll pick up next, but I love having options. In addition, I continue to have these titles on my Kindle to read:

  • Some Place More Than Others by Renée Watson
  • Roll With It by Jamie Sumner
  • More to the Story by Hena Khan
  • The Jumbie’s God Revenge by Tracey Baptiste
