#blogbookaday: Loved to Bits

Loved to BitsSummary:

“A wonderfully exuberant teddy bear and his little boy go on all sorts of grand adventures collecting stories (and a few scrapes and bruises) along the way in Loved to Bits, a picture book about friendship from Teresa Heapy and Katie Cleminson.

Ted and his boy do everything together.
They fight beasts and have feasts.
They tickle monsters then flee on rafts,
They search, explore, escape. . . . and laugh.

But sometimes things get rough, and Teddy loses an ear.
He’s still got his best one though, never fear!
And an eye? PING!
It’s nothing–he didn’t feel a thing!
A leg, then the other. An arm, and then the next.
What do you do with a broken Ted?

You lay down with him at night and snuggle in bed.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

A stripped teddy bear goes on all sorts of adventures with a little boy. Many of these adventures result in missing limbs, an eye and an all around dirty, scruffy little teddy bear. But, the little boy doesn’t care one bit. He still knows that teddy bear is his best friend and will retire to snuggling in bed!

Personal Reaction:

This is such a sweet story about a little boy and his stuffie. These are my favorite stuffed animals to see in the library. Best friends who are a little worse for wear, some that you can’t actually tell what it was when it was new – but so loved! I didn’t have a stuffed animal like this as a child, but I did have an alphabet blanket that was made for me by an aunt. It was so bedraggled, my mom had to stich on a new border at one point, there’s still a long tear on the one side and stiches coming out all over the place, but it is loved dearly. Parents reading this will feel nostalgic for their stuffed animals in the past and kids will acknowledge just how special that relationship is now.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
