#blogbookaday: Mad, Mad, Bear!

Mad, Mad Bear!Summary:

“Bear had to leave the park early for his nap. Then he fell and got an owie on the way home. And then he had to leave his favorite boots and stick outside. Bear feels like nothing is fair, and that makes him VERY, VERY, VERY MAD! Can he find a way to move through his emotions and get back to feeling better? Maybe…but not before having a major meltdown!” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

Bear feels life is a little unfair after having to leave the park early. Then he falls down and has to leave his stick outside. He’s very mad which leads to a temper tantrum. But, afterward he takes a few deep breaths, has a snack and a nap and feels much better.

Personal Reaction:

This is a wonderful story for the littlest of readers on the beginnings of self-control and understanding emotions. Written with few words and adorable pictures, kids will easily understand what to do after having a temper tantrum (and maybe start learning what to do before it happens). This would make a great book for a storytime about emotions or as a one-on-one read aloud to start a discussion about being mad.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
