#blogbookaday: The Wall in the Middle of the Book

The Wall in the Middle of the BookSummary:

“There’s a wall in the middle of the book, and our hero–a young knight–is sure that the wall protects his side of the book from the dangers of the other side–like an angry tiger and giant rhino, and worst of all, an ogre who would gobble him up in a second! But our knight doesn’t seem to notice the crocodile and growing sea of water that are emerging on his side. When he’s almost over his head and calling for help, who will come to his rescue? An individual who isn’t as dangerous as the knight thought–from a side of the book that might just have some positive things to offer after all!” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

A wall separates the spread right on the seam and a knight on one side of the wall is sure that his side is the safe side. There’s all sorts of danger on the other side including an ogre who will eat the knight right up! But with water rising and a scary looking alligator coming toward him, the knight is rescued by an unexpected hero!

Personal Reaction:

This book is all about perspective and how assumptions can be very dangerous! Kids will definitely notice what is happening before our unsuspecting knight does as the waters rise closer and closer! I can see this being a great way to start the discussion about kids’ perspectives of their peers or the world around them without knowing all the facts.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
