#blogbookaday: Crafty Llama

Crafty Llama Summary:

“Llama loves to make things. It doesn’t matter what, really–something special, something lovely.

Beaver loves to make things, too. But he likes things to be useful.

On this lovely day, Llama is inspired. She is having fun making things, like gifts for her friends. And soon many of her friends are inspired right along with her. But Beaver needs to think about what Llama and the other animals are making. What useful thing can he do with this day?” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

Llama should spend the day doing chores or working on this or that. Instead, Llama takes out some knitting to work on while she thinks. Soon friends begin to join her, but Beaver is practical and likes things to be useful. In the end, Llama realizes that a lot of what she made was fun to make and useful too! And Beaver finds a way to be creative and make something useful, while also enjoying a nice knitted something!

Personal Reaction:

This would be a great story to share around the holidays to encourage gift-giving of the homemade variety. This would also make a great story for creative kids looking for their next creative project, I loved the drawn and digital illustrations that make all the little animals look so cozy and cute. This is truly a story of giving and friendship – perfect for the Thanksgiving and gift-giving season.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
