#blogbookaday: Good Night, Mr. Panda

Good Night, Mr. PandaSummary:

“It is time for bed and Mr. Panda reminds his friends Hippopotamus, Skunk, Sheep, and Sloth that they each have forgotten to do something. Skunk has forgotten to take a bath, Hippopotamus needs to brush his teeth, Sloth is too tired to move, and much more. Mr. Panda is there to remind them of the steps they’ve missed. As Lemur eventually finds out, however, even Mr. Panda can make a bedtime mistake!

Steve Antony combines the ever-popular bedtime theme with the humor and fun that only Mr. Panda can bring.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

In his infinite wisdom, Mr. Panda reminds his friends that they’ve each forgotten to do something as they get ready for bed. But, Mr. Panda ends up making a mistake too – which makes this story completely worth it as a bedtime book! Kids will giggle at the friends’ replies to Mr. Panda’s reminders and they’ll double over with laughter at Mr. Panda’s mistake. This is one of those books that you’ve got to pay attention to the end pages – they’re part of the story! This is a great bedtime story as a reminder of what needs to happen before bed, but also a giggle-inducing story that will be sure to make the kids smile every time!

Personal Reaction:

I think my favorite part about this story is the animals the author chose as friends for Mr. Panda – a hippo, a skunk, sheep and a sloth. Not to mention, the Lemur who pops up on every page, doing everything he needs to do to get ready for bed. The matter-of-factness that is the tone throughout this book is what makes it so funny. It’s sure to be a bedtime favorite. And it’s fourth in the series, so check out the other Mr. Panda books too!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
