#blogbookaday: Super Manny Cleans Up!

Super Manny Cleans UpSummary:

“Manny and his pal Gertie stand up for the environment—because every superhero needs a planet worth saving—in this companion to Super Manny Stands Up! from New York Times bestselling author Kelly DiPucchio and illustrator Stephanie Graegin.

Every weekend, Manny and Gertie put on their capes to defeat earth-threatening dangers.

WE ARE MIGHTY!
WE ARE AWESOME!
WE ARE TOUGH!
WE ARE SMART!

Stampeding dinosaurs, ferocious lions, and snapping, snarling veggie monsters are no match for this Super Duo. But when Manny and Gertie come face-to-face with swarms of litterbugs in the city park, will they be able to call on their superhero smarts to stand up for their planet?” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review:

Manny and Gertie spend their weekends fighting (imaginary) evil. One day at the park, Manny and Gertie realize they can become real-life superheroes by cleaning up the litter in the park! Soon other people in the park begin helping out and at the end of the day, the park is all cleaned up!

Personal Reaction:

The first thing I noticed and loved about this book is how Stephanie Graegin illustrated the text using colored pencils to create the monsters that Manny and Gertie so their style stands out from the background. I loved that Manny and Gertie wanted to make a difference in their own world – by cleaning up the park. I also enjoyed seeing how others pitched in to help clean up, once they saw the kids doing their part.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
