It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 8/20/18

What a week it’s been! Have you ever had a week that just can’t seem to get much worse? That was my week. We had a massive storm hit our area last Monday which resulted in a manhole cover being dislodged on the street next to the house and water pouring into our crawlspace, lower level living room and garage. It’s shocking how much damage about two inches of water can do. We thought we got a hold of the water pretty quickly, but I’ve spent my weekend pulling up flooring, ripping out drywall and we’ve been running fans and dehumidifiers since Monday. The good news – the house doesn’t stink anymore, the bad news… we’ve got a lot of fixing up to do, and that was only Monday!

Wednesday, a previously fixed crack in my car’s windshield expanded, which meant I had to get that replaced and on top of all that, my pup isn’t feeling well, so we’re monitoring that situation (hopefully it’s medication related and nothing bigger than that!)

So needless to say, I haven’t had time for much else this week, including reading (which I really to do!) I was able to finish The Train to Impossible Places: A Cursed Delivery by P.G. Bell and The Cardboard Kingdom by Chad Sell. And that’s about all I’ve gotten to read…

My goal this week is to read Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi which I got from the library as well as Welcome Home an anthology of adoption-themed short stories compiled and edited by Eric Smith (which I’m super excited to read). Maybe I’ll get a little more time this week to get these done – we’ll see! On a positive note, we’re healthy and the house is still standing, so I’m trying to look at the positive side of things, these are just little hiccups in the grand scheme of things. Here’s to a better week!
